last saturday evening was amazing. well i was supposed to be at the trng camp but hy encouraged me to go for some seminar organised by her church. the guest speaker was Sy Rogers and hy once told me that his seminar is one to go for. i hesitated for a while but in the end i agreed to join her. truth enough, i really enjoyed his speech and somehow he managed to make me reflect upon what i have done for the past 20 yrs. hurhur. for being so immature and feeling insecure at times.
one word to describe him. unbelievable. when hy spotted him and immediately told me that he was the speaker that night, i was quite surprised. i mean, he doesnt look like a pastor to me. his dressing, the way he held his mic, the way he spoke were kinda gay-ish. somehow, he just has this gay element in him. but that was just my first impression of him. from the first second he spoke, he immediately caught my attention and i had to agree that i was truly amazed by him that night as well.
just a short intro of himself, Sy Rogers was molested at the age of 3, his mum was killed in an accident and his dad kinda 'abandoned' him to search a new life for himself. slowly, his already-damaged sexuality began to awaken and he began to accept that perhaps he's gay. It was so bad that he even considered gg for a sex change surgery (well of coz he didnt go in the end). he began to live as a woman for the next 1.5yrs b4 the surgery. and one night, he was so confused and he earnestly prayed, and then a few days later, a news report announced that they no longer perform sex reassignment surgery!
coincidence? well i dunno. Sy Rogers believed that it was God who has made this decision for him. he accepted this chance of starting fresh. he began to buy men's clothing. throughout the process, he did experience temptations and urges. but he would turned to Him coz he has the power and he's willing to change for Him. Now, he's married for 25 yrs, with a daughter who is like 21 this yr. not too bad for a guy who almost went for a sex change surgery.
throughout the 2 hr seminar, he showed me that no matter wat, there's always hope. In fact he seemed like a presentation of hope to many during his speeches and seminars. He showed me that no matter how disastrous u are, He will never shut the door that leads him to u. It seemed like with his power, all the temptations, lust, alcoholism, blah blah blah will be overcome, coz he ll help u make the right decision. eventually. i was really captivated by him that night. and that 2 hrs seemed so short! many thanks to hy who invited me. a seminar that has taught me alot. a seminar that ill nv forget. INSPIRING. =)
